There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is not permitted. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that contains many amenities accompanying the casino, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
